Jigsaw PSHE and RHE

How do we teach PSHE and RHE at Mousehold Infant and Nursery School?

The mindful approach to PSHE

Welcome to our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic education) and RHE (Relationships and Health Education) page. In September 2024, we launched the Jigsaw approach at Mousehold Infant and Nursery School. Jigsaw is a mindful approach to PSHE and RHE and all of our children from Nursery through to Year 2 will be learning the lifelong skills needed to navigate the everchanging world through the Jigsaw approach.

Jigsaw is a whole school approach and each half-term the whole school will focus on the same theme. There are 6 different themes (puzzles) in total with 6 puzzle pieces to complete. The puzzle pieces are the lessons.  We celebrate our new theme at the beginning of each half-term with a new song and a special launch assembly. It’s a great way to bring the whole school community together and to celebrate our new theme.

Each year group has a special Jigsaw character who is a special part of each lesson.

Meet our Jigsaw Characters:

  • Jenie – Nursery and Reception
  • Jack – Year 1
  • Jo – Year 2

Each week, we have a special Rights Respecting Assembly which focuses on a right each week. We help our children to learn about these through story books and it is intertwined within our Jigsaw programme.
