Newsletter 12th January 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been lovely to have the children back for our first full week, and it has been a busy one. So many children have received High 5 letters this week for great effort and enthusiasm in their learning. Moving around the school, I have been lucky enough to see lots of learning taking place from phonics to super maths, making owl babies in reception and having a porridge party with the Three Bears in the Nursery! What a hardworking week.

School Council

The School Council are excited to launch a brand new project this year:

The Mousehold Recipe Book

We want to celebrate the wonderful diversity of our school community and collect together your favourite family recipes. The children in School Council meetings and during Class Council time have been discussing their favourite school dinners and these recipes will form part of our book too.

As a school we recognise how important it is to develop the life skills of our children preparing healthy meals and have focussed on the skills of preparing fruit and vegetables across KS1. We will include the Rainbow Wrap and Brazilian salad recipes that was such a success with our children in Year 1 and 2 last year.

Please do talk as a family about your favourite meal together. If you would like to share a recipe, please can this be emailed to:

DTLead@istnorfolk.co.uk

It should include ingredients and instructions and ideally have a photo of the dish once made. An example can be found below. Please can all recipes be sent in by Friday 9th February.

Thank you all for your support. We can’t wait to read about all your delicious family favourites!

Timekeeping

Timekeeping is important in the education of your child. If your child is persistently late, then they are missing out on important learning opportunities at the start of the lesson.

Children go straight to class from 08:40 and lessons start at 08:50.

Gates will be closed at 08:50.

If your child arrives after 09:20, this will be marked as an unauthorised absence and will reduce their overall attendance percentage.

The school day ends at 15:10.

Attendance at Mousehold Infant and Nursery School

We have a celebration assembly each Friday afternoon where we share children’s achievements with everyone. As part of this assembly, we congratulate the class with the highest overall attendance for that week. The class with the highest attendance in Key Stage 1 receives ‘Top Dog’ to take to their classroom for the week. The class with the highest attendance in Reception receives ‘Top Cat’.

Our whole school attendance target is 96%. Current whole school attendance is 94.7%.

Top Dog – this week the highest attendance for Key Stage 1 goes to Raven class with 98.46%.

Top Cat – this week the highest attendance for Reception goes to Goldfinch class with 91.82%.
