Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back after the holidays. I hope you all managed to enjoy the sunshine and time with friends and family.
The children have started back confidently and have enjoyed meeting up with their friends after the break. The outdoor learning environments are being used well, with flowers and trees starting to come to life. The children love to see the seasonal changes in their environment.
World Book Day
World Book Day will be celebrated on March 7th, 2024, highlighting the significance of books and literature. At Mousehold School, we observe a strong passion for reading among our students. Each day, we dedicate protected time for sharing stories and discussing books, fostering a love for literature. This year, in honour of World Book Day, we’re organising a special event called ‘Bedtime Story Day.’
On this day, children are invited to come to school wearing their pyjamas. They will be treated to hot chocolate while enjoying storytelling sessions, emphasising how reading not only stimulates the mind but also promotes wellbeing. Parents are warmly welcomed to join us from 8:40 to 9:15am to share stories with their children.
We are also planning a special “World Book Day” Lunch and to ensure smooth operations, we kindly request parents to confirm their children’s lunches, through WEDUC prior to the event. There is a Form to complete for this special lunch. Thanks
Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
A message from our Mental Health Champions
Encouragement for Mums…
Being a Mum is one of the most rewarding jobs but it can also be one of the hardest, most exhausting ones! Be kind to each other… Why not take the time to encourage another Mum with the gift of time and a cuppa. It’s good to share life with friends, talking to someone can often lighten the load. With Mother’s Day just round corner, we wanted to encourage you in the role that you do within your families. Care for the Family, a charity focussing on family wellbeing has produced some great 30-minute video clips that you can listen to for free. These lighthearted short episodes feature down to earth conversations from other Mums as well as expert advice. They are well worth a listen.
Important Reminder
We aim to be a Nut-Free School. Please do not send your child to school with lunch or any food item which contains nuts at all. No peanut butter, no Nutella spread and no chocolate bars containing nuts. Thanks for your co-operation in this matter.
Attendance at Mousehold Infant and Nursery School
We have a celebration assembly each Friday afternoon where we share children’s achievements with everyone. As part of this assembly, we congratulate the class with the highest overall attendance for that week. The class with the highest attendance in Key Stage 1 receives ‘Top Dog’ to take to their classroom for the week. The class with the highest attendance in Reception receives ‘Top Cat’.
Our whole school attendance target is 96%. Current whole school attendance is 93.98%.
Top Dog – this week the highest attendance for Key Stage 1 goes to Robin class with an amazing 100%!
Top Cat – this week the highest attendance for Reception goes to Chaffinch class with 98.4%.
Safeguarding
The Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership is an excellent website to help families as well as staff in schools. There is a particularly good section on sources of information and services available to parents who have separated or divorced and are having difficulty agreeing arrangements for their children. There is a document that lists web-sites and agencies that parents can approach for advice, support and guidance. Click on the link for more information.
Please see our website for all of our policies and more information about safeguarding
Designated Safeguarding Leads Mr Tolson, Mr Smith, Miss Balachandre, Mrs Greenwood and Miss Wood. These members of staff monitor and manage all safeguarding practices and ensure staff are supported and have the training they need. Please ask to see one of these adults if you are worried about the safety of a child at school. |
If you have a safeguarding concern about a child out of school hours then the number to ring is: CADS – Children’s Advice and Duty Service – 0344 800 8020. |
