Dear Parents and Carers,
I have had the pleasure of spending more time in classes this week and looking at children’s books. Their progress is documented through photos, work, pictures and quotes from the children. Remember that you can come into your child’s classroom on a Friday after school and you can look at your child’s books and classroom environment. They really do have such wonderful experiences and every day they make memories to last forever.
Miss Balachandre
It is Miss Balachandre’s last day today, before she begins her maternity leave. We wish her and her family the very best. We will really miss her.
Mrs Seaman
Mrs Seaman, our school Secretary, will be retiring at the end of this academic year, after decades of working in the school as well as attending the school herself as a 4 year old. Many parents who attended the school themselves will remember Mrs Seaman. We are making the most of her whilst we still have her!
Annual Parent Survey
Please can all parents and carers complete the parent survey on Parentmail. Thank you if you have already completed it. The deadline is Friday 20th May.
Partnership News
The staff from both schools are working really well together. We are streamlining some of our systems and processes so there is more consistency between the two schools. This will really help with transition from Year 2 to Year 3. We are currently planning the transition days for our Year 2 children to visit GWJS. We are also planning the information evening for Year 2 parents and carers to learn more about the junior school.
Well done to the Year 6 children from GWJS for completing their SATS this week. Thank you to the staff who have worked hard in preparing the children, and for providing breakfast each day. What a lovely atmosphere that was on Monday when I visited. The Year 2 children at Mousehold are working hard on their SATS, over a period of a few weeks. Well done to all involved. We have a lot to be very proud of.
New School App
Within the next few weeks, both Mousehold Infants & George White Junior School will be launching a new school app. The app will replace Parentmail, and will be a one-stop-shop for all of the information you need about school. The app will include:
· a single login for both schools
· a newsfeed where we can keep you up-to-date with everything that is going on in school (so those of you who don’t have social media won’t be missing out)
· a calendar that will be specific to your child(ren)
· lunch ordering
· absence reporting
· communications previously sent out as text/email
· a hub for all those links you need for e-learning
· payment facilities
· forms and surveys
· the ability to reply to school messages directly
· all information can be translated
We are hoping to launch in late May/early June, and we will keep you informed.
Open Classrooms
This is after school, every Friday, and is a chance for you to look at your children’s books and to see their classrooms. All are welcome, every Friday.

Books and Bakes Sale after school on Friday 27th May (last day of term). This will be held outside the dinner hall. We will be following the school’s Jubilee theme for that day with some Jubilee themed bakes! If you or someone you know is a keen baker, please get in touch with the Friends of Mousehold Infant and Nursery School at admin@friendsofmousehold.org. We will happily take baked goods and any unwanted books on the day to sell on our stall. All money will go towards the Friends of Mousehold Infant and Nursery School charity to fund school trips, equipment and book bags amongst other things!
Non-uniform Day
There will be a non-uniform day on Wednesday 15th June in support of the Summer Fayre. We would like to ask you to donate a small gift on that day that can be used as a raffle prize at the fayre. This gift can be wine, chocolate, toiletries or anything that you think would be suitable for a raffle prize. Please give you donations to your child’s class staff.
Summer Fayre on the 24th June (after school). There will be lots of opportunity for children, parents and teachers to get involved with the day and raise money for the school. In previous years we have had fun games, raffles and food on offer, we want to make this an enjoyable event for everyone. If you would like to volunteer to help run a stall on the day, please get in touch with the Friends of Mousehold Infant and Nursery School. We will keep you updated in the weeks to come on how you can help and get involved.
